If you still only know Denim as Mallrat’s DJ, you’re out of the loop - time to catch up (kinda embarrassing for you, tbh). Real name, real swag - Denim’s been carving out her own lane, blending the raw, tropical charm of Far North Queensland with the culture-dripped coolness of Naarm’s club scene.
After cutting her teeth on the road with Mallrat - including sets at Splendour in the Grass and a support slot for actual Kylie Minogue - Denim is stepping into her solo era. She’s already left her mark at Beyond The Valley and shut it down supporting Artemas on his sold-out Australian tour.
Her sound? Equal parts sugar-rush and steel cap. Think SOPHIE-style sparkle meets Nike TN stompers in a dark warehouse. One moment she’s deep in hyperfeminine e-girl dreamscapes (“In My Head”), the next she’s delivering eshay-core techno chaos (“Nike Store”).
Her sets are loose, instinctive, and a little unhinged - in the best way. There’s humour in her world, but nothing ironic. She’s not chasing cool - she is cool. And you know it.
